après mon aventure

My first French class was yesterday and…I loved it!

I arrived a few minutes early and was directed to a back room. The room was exactly what I would have pictured a language class in a travel book store to be  – shelf lined walls filled with beautiful books and lots of globes…wooden chairs in a circle with a big chandelier hanging from the ceiling made completely of sheets of paper.

Our teacher, Professeur Maurice, is a happy Parisian guy who wore a newsboy hat and laughed at his own jokes frequently.  The class was about 12-15 people, mostly made up of an eclectic fashion crowd sporting hip eye wear.  We went over the usual first day basic conversation essentials: salut, bonjour, bonsoir, au revoir, etc.  Then we went onto pronunciation which intimidated me a lot because I forgot how complicated it is!  (I took French in high school and was terrible…hopefully I’ll have better luck this time around!)

Overall, I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next 9 weeks of class!  I’ll keep you updated…

à bientôt!

  1. So proud of you for doing this! Can’t wait to hear more about it!

  2. […] up my sleeve, but we’ll see what happens and play it by ear.  (I also have to fit my second French class […]

  3. Yay! can’t wait to hear more about your class. I loved the picture you posted of the chandelier.
